Juniors Grand Finals 2008-09 & up to date results

Mulgrave Cricket Club Juniors

Junior Grand Finals

Under 17 1’s WINS Premiership

Mulgrave 181 defeated Knoxfield 162 ( M Crozier 4/15, L Waldron 2/34, J Hunter 2/21)
What a fantastic finish to a very tight game.
We started the 3rd day needing 8 wickets in 16 overs. Knoxfield required 94 runs at six an over with 8 wickets in hand,
The wet outfield from the heavy dew made it very difficult for the bowlers to hold the ball. We were unable to take a wicket for the first 6 overs and the final seemed to be slipping away. Leigh Waldron finally broke through taking 2 wickets in consecutive balls in his final over. Cohen Howell was bowling tightly and Mason Crozier (4/15) and Josh Hunter (2/21) were ripping through the Knoxfield batting.
When Hayden Crozier stumped their last batsman off Josh Hunter, we had won a very close and exciting Grand Final. We had captured the last 8 wickets for just 30 runs.
Congratulations to the team on a fantastic performance and thank you to those club members who came to support us.
DAY1 (rain affected) & 2

After 34 overs- we have to bowl 16 overs next Saturday to complete the match.

Mulgrave 9/181 ( M Cull 41, Josh Warner 36, Mason Crozier 24, Josh Williams 21) v Knoxfield 2/88

We won the toss and batted. Matt Cull and Josh Warner got us off to a great start with a 65 run partnership in 17 overs. Unfortunately we then had a middle order collapse, losing 5 wickets for 38 runs. Some good batting by Mason Crozier and Josh Williams enabled us to post a reasonable target of 182.

Mason Crozier and Shaun White bowled very good opening spells against two opening batsmen who have played Premier cricket seconds during the year.Tight bowling restricted these talented batsmen to 20 runs off the first 10 overs and resulted in a run out as they attempted to increase the score rate.

A late wicket to Mason after a good catch in slips by Matt Cull have the opposition at 2/88, needing 94 runs to win in 16 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

We encourage the club to come and watch some exciting cricket next Saturday at Mulgrave - 8.20 am start.

Play continued Sunday with the previous day ending with St Johns Tecoma with 4/191 with 12.3 overs to go. There final score was 4/270 leaving us with a big task. Our batting started with a steady innings with our openers sharing a partnership of 151, Scott Tunnicliffe on 52 and Matt Young scoring 50. Solid batting by Rob Broley (25),Tom Petronik (33) and Chris McDermott (14) adding some much needed runs. Unfortunately we were unable to maintain the score and with the loss of a quick few wickets only managed 223 off our 50 overs. All the boys have done a great job throughout the season and should hold their heads high. Commiserations on the loss but congratulations on a great season

St Johns Tecoma win the match and the premiership.

An excellent season none the less – well done on great season lads.
